Issues

Everyone deserves to be safe, whether in their homes, workplaces, or in the streets.  We will work to keep the residents here safe in these ways. 

• Work with law enforcement, legislators, and prosecutors to address the disturbing rise in hate crimes across our city.
• Punish perpetrators of hate crimes to the fullest extent of the law
• Establish and fund crime watch groups to observe and report crimes to police
• Fully fund Police Precincts 62 and 68

Every child should have access to high-quality, fully-funded, and well-rounded public school education.  We will help students in these specific ways.

• Increase funding for education in our schools as well as community-based extracurricular educational programs for students.  
• Keep the SHSAT as the sole standard for admittance into the specialized highschool system in NYC.
• Expand programs for students of special needs.

Stanley supports aging in place. We need to ease the burden of retiring in New York City.  We will help seniors in these ways.

• Increase funding for senior centers. Currently only 1.6% of NYC’s budget is appropriated for seniors
• Expand free rideshare services for senior citizen centers
• Provide more immediate services for seniors seeking Medicare and Social Security
• Increase number of poll sites at senior centers

We must combat the affordability issue plaguing New York City. Food insecurity can be addressed to increase affordability for people of all ages.  To lower costs we will

• Expand property tax rebates to residents who can prove that they pay higher property taxes in District 43 for a comparable property in another part of Brooklyn
• Establish a permanent food pantry in District 43 to reduce food insecurity

Stanley will always work to protect and support local small businesses in the community.  We will do this in 2 ways.  

• Ease the burden of opening up new small businesses by making rules and regulations more transparent
• Provide Chinese language services for prospective Asian American small business owners

E-scooters not only increase traffic congestion on the streets and sidewalk, but they are also an extreme fire risk. In 2021, there were 104 fires sparked by lithium batteries alone resulting in 4 deaths and 79 people injured.   We will enact these policies to combat this problem

• Crack down on the use and sale of illegal lithium batteries
• Update standards on designated parking and charging stations
• Reinforce and expand rules on illegal sidewalk use

Every voter in NYC should have access to the ballot box.  We will enact these policies to expand the access to the ballot

• Expand multilingual services to help voters understand the ranked choice system
• Introduce open primaries so all voters can participate in the electoral process
• Increase the number of translators at polling places for both early voting and election day
